'Black Noise' by Aster
Memphis based minimal electronics musician, Aster, offers up on 'Black Noise' a collection of bleakly construed ambience from the dark and dirty corner of the room. Composed using lots of analog pops and crackles, some almost-beats, and all the great textures and synthetic terrain one would expect from an Aster release; but this album has traded in the early morning brightness the author typically employs for more of an autumnal, grey afternoon kind of light. Sounds like if Burial made 'Selected Ambient Works, Vol. II' back when he was still using soundforge and before he cleaned up, but then condensed the whole thing into a one sitting listening experience!
